French Wine Tour at Christine Frechard's Gallery - Dec 2019

Updated: Dec 22, 2021

Dear friends,

Christine and I had the pleasure to share our second wine tasting with a group of distinguished sommeliers and friends. This time it was a Tour of France. We did the reception with a Crémant from Alsace. Once we sat at the tables, we started in Bordeaux, with a white, and went around the clock throughout many of the main French wine regions to finish in Bordeaux with a right bank red.

We paired the wines with appropriate cheeses. Not a difficult task, given the broad variety of French cheeses.

Our sommeliers decided, by overwhelming majority in both sessions, that the best red wine was the Haut Médoc, based on Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. There was, however, a division of opinions about the white wine. Saturday’s participants elected the Bordeaux Sauvignon Blanc while Sunday’s participants chose the Muscadet.

See below the list of wines and tasting notes:

Links to the videos seen during the tasting are provided below:

And the following is a collection of pictures from the tasting and our wonderful sommeliers:

Apologies to the ones we did not capture in the pictures. Proud thanks to Sofia, Sam, Ricky. Elise and Sally for their help. And Happy Holidays to everyone!
